Nineteen international photojournalists bear witness to the impact of the smart phone as camera.
One second John Stanmeyer is texting his wife from Taipei airport, three seconds later, he has captured an image now in this show. Taken from the “slideshow in his mind,” it is introduced into public dialog. Shooting with a smart phone allows us to do this like never before. Immediacy, access, intimacy, reduced interface between the subject and the photographer are opening a new world.
“iSee” is shown in association with The Griffin Museum of Photography @ Digital Silver Imaging Gallery, Boston
Everyday Africa

Africa can be the place of extremes that we see so often – but it can also be familiar. Everyday Africa is a work of casual exploration, featuring photographs by Peter DiCampo and Austin Merrill, who have both lived on the continent as journalists and volunteers. Like many documentary works from Africa, this one is humanitarian in its motivations; but rather than draw attention to a specific crisis, we hope this work serves as a much-needed reminder that the mundane and ordinary are ever-present.
“Everyday Africa” is shown with support from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting

As the last bullets were fired during the battle for Tripoli evidence of war crimes committed by both sides surfaced. People discovered the secret lives of the Qaddafi family from what they left behind in their sometimes lavish homes complete with underground tunnels, rooms and even a hospital. As celebrations increased, more prisoners were taken and the remaining towns under loyalist control were being fought for.
